Dental Implant Maintenance

Dental implant restorations and surrounding tissues are highly sensitive areas of the oral cavity and require professional protection. Effective measures are needed. Professional tooth cleaning is requisite and part of the standard treatment program for patients with implants.

Dental implants require regular after care measures to keep them in good condition. An effective maintenance program should include professional cleaning and the use of chlorhexidine preparations. It is advisable to apply a protective varnish which contains 1% chlorhexidine and 1% thymol. It will protect at risk areas by sealing them and reduce the number of harmful bacteria. Protective varnish should be moisture tolerant.
